A Common Word between Us and You is an open letter, dated 13 October 2007, from leaders of the Islamic religion to leaders of the Christian religion. It calls for peace between Muslims and Christians and tries to work for common ground and understanding between both religions.
'A Common Word' is probably the most important initiative ever taken by Muslims towards Christians, and has long term implications not only for inter-faith relations but also for the peace of our world. This film succeeds remarkably well in telling its story and drawing out its significance. It is a major achievement that promises to enable A Common Word to have the impact it deserves.

Regius Professor of Divinity & Director, Cambridge Inter-faith Programme, University of Cambridge

On May 12, 2010, in Bloomington, USA, the Dalai Lama, joined by a panel of select scholars, officially launched the Common Ground project, which he and HRH Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad of Jordan had planned over the course of several years of personal conversations.
The project is based on the book ‘Common Ground between Islam and Buddhism’ written by Dr. Reza Shah-Kazemi, which was commissioned by HRH Prince Ghazi.
In his foreword to the book, the Dalai Lama writes, “This is an important and pioneering book, which seeks to find common ground between the teachings of Islam and of Buddhism. It is my hope that on the basis of this common ground, followers of each tradition may come to appreciate the spiritual truths their different paths entail…
The specific intention and goal of this endeavor is to identify a spiritual ‘Common Ground’ (authentically based on the religious sacred texts of Islam and Buddhism) between Muslims and Buddhists that will enable both communities to love and respect each other not merely as human beings in general, but also as Muslims and Buddhists in particular.

A spiritual journey through an archaeological detective story. A story which uncovers the pieces of the ancient mystery of where Christ was baptized. Why was the site lost? How was it discovered and what was found there? What is the meaning of baptism in Christianity.
"Refreshingly, this film succeeds in being true both to the archaeological and the spiritual significance of the place.... It conveys the sense of excitement alike among archaeologists, biblical scholars and Bedouin tribesmen as the site was rediscovered over the past few years. It reflects engagingly on the meaning of baptism in Christianity." — Revd. Dr. Liz Carmichael, Tutorial Fellow in Theology and Chaplain, St John's College, University of Oxford
"It is a work of art...I hope you see this beautiful documentary." —Lucie Blodgett, The Voice-Tribune
The remarkable story of how the actual location of Jesus' baptism had disappeared from human memory, lost in time for almost 1000 years; and the fascinating story of its rediscovery and the ongoing excavations taking place there.
"A remarkable account of recovering a foundational part of our Christian heritage."
—The Archbishop of Canterbury (ret), Dr Rowan Williams. Head of the worldwide Anglican Communion
"An important, groundbreaking film...This film takes its subject seriously. Christians must see this film. Everyone should see this film! " —Dr. William F. Vendley, Secretary General, World Conference of Religions for Peace, New York

A meditation on the themes of love of the Prophet, veneration of holy sites, grace and symbolism. This film tells the story of the meeting between the Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings be upon Him) and a Christian monk named Bahira. The meeting happened in the shade of a tree.
Fourteen hundred years later that same tree was discovered still alive in the northern deserts of Jordan. The only tree alive in hundreds of square miles of emptiness. This tree is a link to the life of the Prophet and a place of pilgrimage today...
'"The Blessed Tree has a fruit, the seed of which plants a new branch of Iman (faith) in the heart. I literally felt my Iman increase while watching this film. There are parts which would reduce even the hardest of hearts to tears." - Hamza Yusuf Hanson , Zaytuna College, Berkeley, California
"A warm and remarkable witness to one of history's most symbolically crucial religious encounters. The meeting of a devout Byzantine Christian hermit with the future Prophet of Islam in the Syrian desert, is conveyed in a deeply convincing feat of historical reconstruction." - T.J. Winter, University of Cambridge, UK
"You have to be able to apply a symbol in a wise way, from one domain of reality to another. There is, in a sense, a vertical dimension that goes through our heart vertically through our head and up to Heaven. The line of transcendence. This is the inner tree. The roots of it are actually the roots of the Divine reality in our hearts. For most human beings this tree has dried up because they are not aware of its roots. It is virtually there but not actually; and the spiritual life means the reviving of this tree within us by sinking the roots of the Divine once again in our hearts." - Prof. Seyyed Hossein Nasr, George Washington University, Washington D.C.
